At Bonneygrove Nursery we provide a safe, caring, happy and stimulating environment for the children, so that their all round skills can develop to the best of each child’s own ability. Children are taught in whole class, small group and one to one. During child initiated play, children can choose from a wide range of activities inside and outside the Nursery.
We help the children develop an awareness of the world around them, to promote feelings of their own identity and place in the world. They explore new concepts and learn how to live and work with others as well as learning about themselves. Children are encouraged to speak out with confidence and to express their own ideas and stories. They are also encouraged to listen when others are speaking.
Q. How many children can we take?
A. 60. This consists of 30 children for a morning session and 30 children for an afternoon session.
Q. How will I know which session my child attends?
A. You can state an am or pm preference when you apply. However, please bear in mind it is not always possible to allocate around preferences as they are dependent upon availability.
Q. What time of year will my child start Nursery?
A. - Depending on availability we have 3 intakes a year. We may be able to offer your child a space the term after their third birthday.
Q. What times are the Nursery sessions?
A. 08.30am - 11.30am if your child attends in the morning
12.30pm - 3.30pm if your child attends in the afternoon
Q. Does my child automatically receive a place for your Reception class?
A. No. You will be informed when the admissions process starts for Reception (known as Under 11’s) and this is organised by Hertfordshire County Council.
Q. What level of adult support is available in your nursery?
A. The Nursery Team consists of 1 Teacher and other key workers. The ratio of children to adult is 1 to 13 (1 to 10 where possible). Each child is appointed an adult key worker from the Nursery Team.
Q. Could my child attend Nursery for Lunch?
A. This may be possible. We offer a lunchtime club from 11.30am - 12.30pm. This club will cater for a maximum of 16 children on a first come, first served basis subject to a minimum of 8 children. The cost will be £4.00 for one hour's childcare payable in advance. Parents/carers will be asked to provide their own healthy packed lunch and will be expected to sign up for a term at a time, with half a term's written notice if it is not needed anymore. At any point, if numbers for the lunch club were to fall below 8 children, the school will give half a terms’ notice of closure of this service.
Q. Could my child attend for more than their entitlement of 15 hours?
30 Hours Childcare - Nursery
This is a new entitlement for working parents of three and four-year-old children and is an additional 15 hours per week entitlement in addition to the child's existing 15 hours free early education place.
Please see link below providing additional information and how to apply. The second link is the declaration form which needs completing, if you are eligible, that will then need to be returned to Bonneygrove Primary School Office.
Please be aware of the deadline dates for applying.
Priority will be given to working families who are in receipt of 30 hour funding. Further places will be allocated depending on availability at an additional cost.

If you're entitled to 15 hours of free early education
You don't need to do anything. There's no application, code or voucher required. Just find an approved childcare provider offering 15 hours of free childcare, then contact them directly.
You are entitled to 570 hours of free childcare per year. This amounts to 15 hours per week, if you use it during the 38 weeks of term time.

You need to sign in to your childcare account on GOV.UK and re-confirm your details every 3 months to keep receiving free childcare.
This will continue until your child starts reception class or until the start of the school term after their 5th birthday - whichever comes first.
